(Series of annotated slides followed by video) I have been going through aerosol compressed air at a frightening rate! I use it to clean IT equipment, audio equipment, etc. There are disadvantages in using aerosol air; it’s full of contaminants, it can damage components through excessive cold, and it’s expensive. Compressed air machines (such as used for spray painting) are much better, but are difficult to store indoors, and are loud. If my workshop was in a garage, I would use a compressed air machine. But it isn’t, so I don’t. My solution? Take a machine that produces a high volume of air at a fast rate (in this case a mains powered leaf blower), attach some filters to ensure the air is clean, and some hose/tubing to direct the air flow. It works surprisingly well! I’m still playing around with end attachments (thin straw like tubes, bigger nozzles, etc.), but they all seem to do the job. And the cost? Compressed air: aprox £8-10 a can. Second hand compressed air machine: anything from £40 to well over £100 on eBay.
